Rick is our friendly Diabetes Educator and the self-proclaimed handyperson for The Astell. It is not uncommon to see him fixing the door hinges or building our latest IKEA purchase through the window.
He is also one of our Clinical Nurses and has worked across various hospitals, nursing homes and GP clinics over the last 20 years.
At the clinic, Rick moves seamlessly between patient education, child immunisation, complex care planning and health assessments.
In a previous life, Rick was an engineer and was an early adopter of the ‘men too can be nurses’ movement in the early 2000s before it became fashionable.
He speaks Tagalog fluently and is adept at personalising his dietary recommendations to suit a patient’s health needs, lifestyle and cultural background.
